This is the robot that the team made for the 2017 season. It was my first season on the team and I didn’t do a whole lot of work on this. I did do some work on the climbing mechanism(the white bar on the left) and the ball stirrer which isn’t visible in this particular picture. The way this robot worked was it picked up balls at the front (left hand side) using the ball elevator, they were then stored in the hopper in the center. At the back there was an index motor and a shooting motor with a flywheel attached. The indexer would release balls from the hopper one at a time onto the 3D printed track which would then be shot out at the same angle every time because the flywheel ensured the speed stayed up after each shot. At the end of the match a rope was released on the field for each robot to climb. We had a bar covered in velcro that would spin slowly until the rope caught and then would rapidly pull the robot up to the required height.
